Windhoek Gymnasium U/19 edge SKW 1–0

Windhoek Gymnasium U/19 secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) U/19 in a tough and closely contested encounter.

Both teams battled fiercely throughout the match, with neither side willing to give an inch. Just when it seemed the game would end in a draw, Windhoek Gymnasium produced a late moment of brilliance to score the winning goal and secure all three points.

It was a determined performance from WHK Gym, who showed great character and persistence to secure the breakthrough when it mattered most.

The captain of Windhoek Gymnasium, Leopold Hakushika, felt their performance was good but found it difficult in the first half of the match.

SKW came with a lot of physicality, and it was a good, intense game throughout, but towards the end of the game we changed gears and increased the tempo. We started playing quicker and managed to get the goal towards the end,

– he said.

On the positive side, we have that fighting spirit; we learned to control the game with good management, and our management has improved since the beginning of the season. On the negative side, we start a bit off and don’t come in with energy at the start of matches. We need to raise the intensity; we need to come in better prepared, especially in the first 15 minutes. We must come in strong in the duals with energy and take more shots,

– he added.

SKW’s Nyasha Kurasha pointed out that there were a few players, as they did not have a bench to rotate players, which contributed to their loss.

We were just enough to make 11 on the pitch, but no one was on the bench. We fought, but eventually we got tired as well. We only conceded from a silly mistake; overall, we played well. We hold the ball too much and take too long individually; we need to learn to pass the ball to each other and get out of tight spaces. I think I need to work on my one-on-ones as well; my ball distribution was better in most games. As a team, we played relatively well, which is something to be positive about, because overall we had them on their toes,

– he concluded.

Elsewhere

Riverheights Football Academy’s U/17 and SKW played out an intense 1–1 draw in a thrilling game filled with action from start to finish. Both teams created numerous scoring opportunities and came close to finding the winner on several occasions, but neither side could take full control of the match. The intensity remained high throughout, with both teams battling hard and pushing forward in search of a decisive goal. In the end, the chances were shared, and the points were shared as well, as the game finished 1–1 after an entertaining and competitive encounter.
