CBS outclasses DTS U/19 4-1

…Kasaona FA drew 0-0 against Riverheights FA

St. Paul’s College U/15 suffered mixed fortunes over the weekend, while Collin Benjamin Soccer Talents (CBS) exacted revenge on Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) with a convincing 4-1 victory in one of 42 matches played over the weekend.

CBS had been knocked out 1-0 by DTS in last weekend’s SKW tournament, but this time returned with a solid game plan, dominating possession throughout the match at the Trustco Football Field. Despite having lost 2-1 to Julinho Athletic Football Club earlier in the week, CBS bounced back in style, with Tonny Owoseb scoring twice, while Graig Muukweli and Stephen Kamulu added a goal each.

CBS assistant coach Arnold Subeb said the team was determined to make amends after last weekend’s disappointment.

We had an SKW tournament, and then DTS knocked us out of the tournament with a one-goal-to-zero. We trained, went back to the drawing board, trained well, prepared, and came back. We told the boys we had to redeem ourselves. The standard we have maintained needs to be shown to viewers, spectators, and everyone, as well as to ourselves, to raise our level and keep the intensity high throughout the game. But game-wise, I wouldn’t say it was too tactical,

– he said.

It was mostly one-sided because the other guys maybe didn’t have numbers coming. They only had 10 players since they came, and when you are fewer, you don’t have reserves and anything; you don’t wanna give everything or maybe play carefully to avoid getting injured. There’s no one to come on, so those were maybe the aspects that the DTS boys had,

– he explained.

DTS coach Mabasa Kufahakutizwi felt his charges produced a brave performance despite playing the entire match with only 10 players.

It was a brilliant performance; the boys really put in a very good shift. We played the entire match against CBS with 10 men, and they are the best team in terms of quality. Overall, I think they have quality from the goalkeeper to their last man. Even their bench is full of quality. So, we played with ten men, no one on the bench, nothing so. We used a U/15 goalkeeper as well, who is actually a U/15 infield player as well,

– he ended.

Elsewhere

Kasaona Football Academy U/19 was held to a goalless draw by a stubborn Riverheights Football Academy at the same venue.

Coach Mamie Kasaona believed his side was the better team but failed to make the most of their opportunities in front of goal.

We had a better chance to win this game. We just couldn’t capitalise on our chances. As a coach, I think I have a lot of takeaways to take back to the training ground and make sure we work on finishing. I think that’s one aspect the game is lacking. But in terms of the boys coming to play and make sure that they are not here only to participate, but to compete, and they have shown it,

– shared Kasaona.

I like the way they were organising the defence, and again, knowing how to handle pressure. You could see they have individual players in terms of speed, and even so, technically, they have a good winger and a striker. At two occasions, I think they could have put it away, but they couldn’t utilise their chances well,

– he said.
