CBS thrash DTS U/17 6-1

…as their U/19 held to a 0-0 draw

Collin Benjamins Soccer Talents U/17 (CBS) outplayed Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) when they beat them 6-1 late in the second leg on Friday at the Jan Möhr Football field.

From the onset, CBS exerted pressure in the first half and were clinical in their finishing in front of goal.
Delpiero Kaom scored twice for CBS, while Angelo Bernard, Muukweli Criag, Rodrigues Panizza and Stephen Kamulu each registered their names on the score sheet.
DTS only managed to score one goal by Aaron Owomo. Winning captain Leo Scholz from CBS felt their performance was great, as they beat them previously in the first leg.

Our performance was great. We finished them in the first leg already. It was kind of obvious we were going through already. So, we just continued – started this as it was just a normal game,

– he said.

Scholz reiterated that their training leading up to the match was key, as they trained well, especially with their final touches in front of goal.

This was the game plan. We’ve been training on our finishing last week. The win gives us more confidence. We move on to the next game. We will try and win the next game, and move on till we maybe win the league,

– he ended.

DTS coach Ricardo Hifitikeko said they knew it was going to be a tough match, as CBS is not a walk-in-the-park type of side.

We knew it was coming – a very bad first half, but a better second half. I’ve realised that, with these games, it’s all about the development. And we knew that we were going to go against a tough opponent. CBS is not a walk in the park,

– he said.

Hifitikeko was impressed with the boys’ performance but felt that they did not perform to the best of their ability.

I could not have asked for more today. Let me not say I could not have asked for more, but that was the bare minimum,

– he added.

They could have done better, but I’m definitely not happy. I am with the second half, the way they showed up, the attitude, but it could have been better because what you want from the boys is an attitude to want to play. If they do not want to play, then you cannot get the best out of them,

– he said.

Elsewhere

On Saturday, Collin Benjamin’s Soccer Talents U/19 (CBS) were held to a goalless draw against Julinho Athletic Football Club on Saturday at the Trustco United Football Field.
Coach Henrico Botes from CBS felt the game was very physical and intense from the first minute.

I think the balance of play towards the end – I think our Fitness came through in terms of that we created more chances. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise on the day. But all in all, a good game of football, like I said, is very physical – very intense,

– he said.

Botes said the boys need to improve on their finishing, which they have been practising throughout the week, as goals were lacking during the match.

Good intensity and good energy. Unfortunately, the goal wasn’t to be today, but better luck next time. I think we should recap and then obviously go back and do better. I think our intensity can be a little bit higher because I think, in the end, our opponents couldn’t cope with the intensity in the second half. So, on to the second leg,

– he added.

I’m happy with the performance. It’s only the goals that were lacking. We created enough goals. JAFC couldn’t really play it at times, but I don’t worry too much about other teams. What my team does, we can improve intensity, yeah, my team,

– he ended.

Benjamin Nyambo, head coach of JAFC, said the game was extremely tactical as expected from their opponents.

We knew already from the onset, CBS and quality side, so obviously both teams were preserved. They respected how they wanted to play football. So, I think there wasn’t really much in terms of chance created. But obviously, it was a good tactical battle,

– he said.

Our game plan is always the same. So, the emphasis is we always want to dominate proceedings. We want to control and impose our game onto our opponents at all times. We want to play a certain way of attacking possession-based football,

– he added.

But, of course, today we struggled a little bit to impose that. Obviously, to match the dynamics, the game was quite physical. They were playing against a very physical side. So, the idea is to obviously embrace the physicality – but of course, it doesn’t work out all the time. But, I think it was a good game of football,

– he ended.
